Underground Upkeep: Maintaining Your Submersible Pump System

Out of sight, out of mind, right? Every homeowner has a large to-do list of home improvement projects, and we’re much more prone to fix the flaws we see every day than the ones we don’t. That’s why it’s so easy to forget about checking your submersible pump or water tank. You don’t see them buried underground, and, most likely, the only time you’re reminded of their existence is when something goes wrong. To help avoid problems, you should follow the same guidelines for maintaining your water pump system as you do for going to the doctor: schedule a regular, periodic checkup, and get any problem signs checked out immediately. This regular maintenance will extend the life of your water system, and will also help you catch any potential glitches as soon as possible.

Regular Maintenance

Just like you have an annual checkup with the doctor for preventative care, you should have a periodic checkup for your home water system, as well. While it doesn’t have to be every year, we recommend servicing water tanks every two to three years. When we come to inspect your home’s system, we can do the following:
  • Catch and fix any minor repairs before they turn into major problems
  • Test the quality of your water and ensure that no bacteria is present
  • Replace any parts that are worn-down
  • Give your water system a clean bill of health
Preventative care is always better than emergency care. Maintaining your water system regularly helps your submersible well pump to last longer, and it also gives you the peace of mind that all is well underground.

Problem Signs for Your Water System

If something bad is going on down below, you’ll quickly notice the problem signs. Make sure you call a professional water pump company if you experience any of the following situations:
  • Substantial loss of water pressure
  • No water in your house
  • Standing water in your basement or yard
  • Foul tasting or smelling water
